Chlorine Dioxide (ClO₂)

• A highly effective disinfectant that does not form trihalomethanes (THMs) and is more effective against viruses and protozoa than chlorine. It works by oxidizing microorganisms and disrupting their cell membranes.

Advantages: Less production of harmful by-products compared to chlorine; better at dealing with biofilms and taste/odor issues.
