Electrodialysis (ED)

In electrodialysis, ions are removed from water by passing it through ion-exchange membranes under the influence of an electric field. Positive ions migrate toward the negative electrode, and negative ions move toward the positive electrode, allowing for selective removal of salts.

Commonly used for desalination and ion removal from brackish water and industrial wastewater.
