Electrodialysis for Brackish Water Desalination

Electrodialysis is highly efficient for desalinating brackish water with moderate salinity (typically 1,000 to 10,000 mg/L of dissolved salts). It is often used in inland areas where seawater desalination is impractical.

Applications: Inland municipal water treatment, industrial water treatment in mining, power generation, and agriculture, and groundwater desalination in arid regions.

Advantages: More energy-efficient than RO for low- and medium-salinity water, suitable for regions with high brackish water resources, and capable of high recovery rates with minimal brine disposal.
