Geothermal-Powered Desalination

Geothermal desalination uses heat from geothermal energy sources to power thermal desalination processes such as Multi-Effect Distillation (MED) or Multi-Stage Flash (MSF). The heat generated from geothermal wells is used to evaporate seawater and condense freshwater.

Applications: Regions with access to geothermal resources, industrial facilities located near geothermal sources, and off-grid communities.

Advantages: Provides a constant and reliable energy source, particularly for large-scale desalination, and has a low carbon footprint. It is ideal for regions with abundant geothermal potential, such as Iceland or parts of California.
