Monochloramine (NH₂Cl)

• A stable disinfectant formed by combining chlorine and ammonia, used primarily for maintaining residual disinfection in drinking water distribution systems. It is less reactive than chlorine, resulting in fewer disinfection by-products (DBPs).

Advantages: Provides long-lasting residual disinfection with reduced formation of harmful by-products like trihalomethanes (THMs).
