Weak Acid Cation (WAC) Exchange Systems

Primarily used for water softening where hardness is temporary, i.e., caused by bicarbonates of calcium and magnesium.

WAC resins exchange hydrogen ions (H⁺) for hardness ions, but not for strong acids like chlorides.

Applications: Industrial water treatment processes where temporary hardness needs to be removed.
